It is official — I am adopted and mum is my mum legal real!

Yes, she was the only mum i ever known —– i see her face every day and she takes care of me every day, but it was not til yesterday —– September 23, 2008, in San Jose, California, 13 months after i was born, she is my legal mum!

judge Grilli, my mum’s attorney Stephen Ravel, mum, dad and me! (he’s holding the toy mum picked, cuz the judge has a shelf full of them! mum chose the green ‘troll.’ (she thought it was a frog!) Actually i chose it, mum said, okay!

I am adopted for real now! Someday i will understand and be told the wonderful story, but for now, legal matters make no sense to me and not important (making sure i cry out for my bottle is more important to me). As long as i know mum is near and takes care of me and loves me, that is what is important. Today was kinda like my first Bar Mitzvah… a grand celebration!

I have a new official name now, Jacob Stephen Chow. i did not have a middle name ‘til days ago, for my mum and dad thought, hmm, how ‘bout asking the attorney if it was okay to use his name. You see, if it was not for his phone call to mum, mum would not have known i was ready to be born. Mum just had one birth mum change her mind. What a coincidence, such timing, stars all lined up. It was just meant to be, and so here i am!

Mum is happy she has a son, and i am happy i have a mum. I have a dad too, but until he legally adopts me, it is the same as with me and mum for the first 13 months of my life. No matter ….. i am glad i have mum and dad and a good family —– and glad i have a dog too … kaley corgi!

kaley corgi looks the same, but look how i have changed! I think kaley corgi always liked me too! (i am almost 2 wks old here)

adoption morning —– hehe, i would have been fine to stay in bed with my taggie blankie, but court was at 10:30 and i had to get up and dress nice!

After court, i got to crawl on the wild side! Gee, do you think someday i will fit in dad’s pants and be tall?

here is the ‘troll’ and mum got a bouquet of sunflowers from my ‘uncle lou’ and ‘aunt nancy.’ They would have been there but they were on vacation! Mum told them to not let it happen next time…hehehe!

celebration meal, dim sum at mum and dad’s fave restaurant —-look at all the goodies, and guess what? I got to taste it all! I ate the chicken feet, the beef balls, the tofu (not shown, for it came later) , tofu dessert (that came later too), sweet rice, broccoli, and turnip cake. Yum, glad i am Chinese! (or am i? i know I’m Jewish)
